Rev. Jacqueline Carter

Meet Pastor Jacqui

Rev. Jacqueline Carter (Pastor Jacqui) is a provisional elder serving in the Long Island West District of the New York Annual Conference since 2019. Prior to 2019 she served two congregations in the Catskill Hudson District for two years.


As a child she attended the Friendship Methodist Church in Guyana which is part of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA). It was at this church and the Christian influence of her mother that she got her foundation in Christian discipleship.


Pastor Jacqui gave her life to the Lord at a spiritual retreat for young adults. After accepting Jesus as her Savior she served as Church school teacher, local preacher, circuit steward, vacation bible school coordinator, and class leader. On the administrative side Pastor Jacqui served as the Bookkeeper for four years in the Methodist Church Guyana District office before migrating to the USA.


Upon migrating to the USA Rev. Carter joined the North United Methodist Church in Hartford, CT. During a bible study that she heard the call of God to full time ministry. During her time at North United Pastor Jacqui served as Youth Minister, Lay Servant, bible study leader, and Stephen Ministry facilitator.


Pastor Carter is a firm believer that God can use anyone who is willing to serve for the expansion of the kingdom of God. She is passionate about the transforming work that God does in our lives when we engage in the means of grace. One of Jacqui’s favorite scriptures is, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” (Jer. 29:11)


Pastor Jacqui holds a BSc in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University and a Masters in Divinity from Drew University. At Drew University she received the Rev. Florence Spearing Randolph Prize for demonstrating powerful preaching skills and potential outstanding pastoral leadership.


Rev. Jacqueline Carter is a mother and grandmother.

Staff Pastor Parish Relations

The Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee is the personnel arm of the church. The committee is responsible for assisting the pastor and staff in assessing their gifts, maintaining health and work-life balance, and setting priorities for leadership and service.


A requirement for membership on this committee is that those who serve must be engaged in and attentive to their Christian spiritual development to give proper leadership in the responsibilities with which the committee is entrusted.


The duties of the committee include the following:

  • Encourage, strengthen, nurture, support, and respect the pastor and staff and their families
  • Promote unity in the church
  • Confer with and counsel the pastor and staff on matters pertaining to the effectiveness of ministry; relationships with the congregation; the pastor’s health and self-care.
